Posted by Hill & Partners on Feb 24, 2015 8:42:00 AM

The Outdoor Retailer Winter Market is North America’s largest winter lifestyle and sports industry gathering in the world, attracting the over 1,000 exhibiting brands in the outdoor gear industry for networking, introducing new products and growing businesses through more than 22,500 attendees over the course of the four day trade show.

Hill & Partners has been involved in th Outdoor Retailer Winter and Summer shows since the start twenty years ago. It remains the largest trade show event for H&P in terms of designed, built and executed square footage for the largest number of exhibiting clients at one show.

The 2015 Winter Market brought the opportunity to both represent a new client brand and to revamp existing clients' Branded Environments.

Terramar Trade Show Booth Outdoor

Terramar Sports, seeks to inspire healthy lifestyles by creating innovative performance baselayers that enable individuals to enrich their lives through active outdoor experiences. Terramar in turn draws inspiration from "rare acts of courage and endurance" to continously advance the performance technology of their outdoor products.

With an intention to reflect these key values and essence of the Terramar brand, Hill & Partners designed a custom environment that brought the outdoors in. An "outdoor retail environment" was developed to place the products and the brand in its element while the Terramar team worked to communicate the innovation and inspiration of the products to potential buyers.

 Khombu Trade Show Booth Design

Khombu, a brand of ATSCO Footwear, began as a winter-geared product that was mostly popular in ski resorts throughout the 70s and 80s. The evolution of the product and the brand has led to the latest brand focus as an all seasons brand, deeming the tagline "All Seasons. All The Time." This new focus led to a desire for a revamped image at the Outdoor Retailer and Snow Sports Industries of America (SIA) shows.

Both the 20x40 and 20x30 booths took on a "rustic outdoorsy" feel using textures and materials such as woods, concrete and iron to complete the custom design. The Terramar environment was enhanced by realistic stone finishes, while the Khombu footwear products integrated unique shelving and custom-produced wooden pallet tables as product displays.

Polartec Trade Show Booth Design Outdoor Retailer

Twenty Years ago, H&P collaborated with Polartec at the Outdoor Retailer show. Since then, we are proud to have been able to witness and take part in the evolution of Polartec's brand and brand presence over the past two decades.

The 2015 Winter show gave a special opportunity for a revamped booth design for the leading company of high performance textiles, taking on a "science lab meets textile mill" feel to align with the new "Impossible Made Possible To Further The Science Of Fabric" tagline.

Operating from this "Impossible Made Possible" framework, Polartec develops innovative materials to help outdoor enthusiasts defy the elements and achieve the extent of their imaginations. The design of the Polartec Outdoor Retailer 40x50 booth sought to reflect this key value while maintaining the functionality to hold face-to-face meetings with top buyers and customers.

The two-story structure incorporated six total meeting rooms, including a twenty-person R&D room, and a PR room that were all well-utilized throughout the duration of the show.  As usual, Polartec provided a high level of comfort and hospitality, shown above as integrated into the environment with a staffed and stocked bar to keep the many daily visitors refreshed and delighted.

H&P designs each square foot of a Branded Environment to serve a value and a purpose. The new designs rolled out at the 2015 OR Show spanned 3,000 of the 7,400 total square feet of space designed and managed by Hill & Partners, each with its own story and unique set of objectives to accomplish. We look forward to sharing more of these stories with you.
